Dan and Jordan talks about winning The Amazing Race

Share

Digitalspy.com interviewed the winners of this season of The Amazing Race, Dan and Jordan.

Congratulations! How does it feel now that you can finally say that you are winners?!

Jordan: "I think both of us have about 5,000lbs worth of weight lifted from our shoulders! Looking our family and best friends in the face and saying, 'I can't tell you!' has been killing us! Finally we can no longer live in the shadows!"
Dan: "We won!"

So even though you filmed a while ago, the elation is still there?!

Jordan: "In fact, it's even more now because we can actually talk about it. Before, yeah we won, and you can shut your door in your bedroom and just start dancing around, but no-one ever sees that and what's the fun in that?!"

What was your family's reaction?

Dan: "We had a viewing party with the rest of the cast here in New York and watched it together. Everyone's reaction was pretty incredible, our parents, it was an emotional time in a very good way!"

You kept your lead in the entire episode. Did you know you were team number one when you arrived at Candlestick Park?

Dan: "Yes we absolutely knew we were team number one! We were ahead of the cowboys all the way and actually finished about 25 minutes ahead of them, but obviously editing makes it look closer. We had a pretty good feeling throughout the race. We had left them - I wouldn't say they caught up to us - at the virtual computer challenge. They were physically there with us so we knew where they were but we knew they had a lot of work to do with that. From that point forward really - the whole final leg - we ran a very clean leg and had few to no problems at all!"
Jordan: "Having watched the race for 15 seasons, I know when you turn that corner and look up at the platform and see Phil you know right then what place you came in. When we arrived we just looked at each other and my brother grabbed my backpack and said, 'Holy crap, we just won The Amazing Race!'"

Was it even more special for you, Jordan, as you're such a fan of the show?

"Absolutely. This whole thing has been totally surreal. I remember watching the seasons and picturing myself there and dreaming that I'm there, and then I'm actually there! I've been pinching myself ever since, and to do this with my brother - who I never thought I could convince to break that traveling hate that he has of being outside his comfort zone. He does so much for me and did this race for me and really stepped outside his comfort zone so it's awesome to enjoy this together."

Any regrets about cutting in front of Jet and Cord in Shanghai?

Dan: "The most popular question of the day! The cut-in-line, if you will, had absolutely no impact on the race. I can't possibly stress that to you enough. We were all on the same plane in consecutive rows and had middle seats. Caite and Brent, who were first in line and first to get tickets, were actually the third row on the plane the furthest to the back. Our ability to get to first-class, which was ultimately the difference, had no effect on where we were sitting or the order of which we got our tickets."

Whose idea was it to get upgraded?

Jordan: "That was all my brother Daniel! We had a flight attendant that really took a liking to him and you have to milk that for all it's worth. It's a game and you have to try to get ahead and Daniel really capitalized on that big time."
Daniel: "Special thanks to Karen at US Air!"

Siblings may be more prone to bickering on the race, so were you surprised how well you worked together?

Dan: "No I'm not surprised. We've been brothers and best friends for all of Jordan's life, and we work together really well. It's a natural thing in our communication. I think it really helped us to be brothers. I look at Brent and Caite, they had a lot of fighting. It's tough to be a dating couple and win the game. We're brothers and our relationship is our relationship and it won't be affected one way or another by the race."
Jordan: "We have had every fight you can possibly think of so we went into this race knowing there is nothing that could come our way that we couldn't handle, and when we did fight or have a disagreement it wasn't something we hadn't seen before, it was probably just in a different location we'd been before! We're stuck with each other and we're really happy to have each other in our lives and very fortunate for that."

This is probably the second most asked question of the day - have you any plans for the money?!

Jordan: "It is the second most asked question!"
Dan: "Out of the million we're going to pay our taxes and save and invest it. We agree on that much."

You're not tempted to blow some on a party?!

Jordan: "I think we may do a little party with our friends, or at least celebrate with them. but let's put it this way - no extravagant purchases in our future!"
Dan: "No Lamborghinis!"

What are your plans for now?

Dan: "I would love to get a job in sports. I'm a huge sports fan. That would be a great thing for me. I'm going to see where maybe this race can take me and what doors can open and try to make the most of a great situation."
Jordan: "Absolutely, and for me, I'm going to go back to Atlanta where I have a wonderful job. I'm happy in that city so it's life as usual but with a couple more people recognizing me or knowing who I am and a couple of extra bucks in my pocket!"
