Share

The 30-year-old from Chicago - who started the show as the heaviest contestant in the franchise's history - triumphed over Daris George and Ashley Johnston in tonight's live finale of the NBC competition.

He started the show at 526lbs and lost 264lbs to scoop the cash prize of $250,000 and the title of 'The Biggest Loser'.

Ventrella - who entered the show with mom Maria - had been the first person in its history to lose 200lbs on campus. He had taken to the scale with a white rose which he later gave to his mother, describing her as his "number one inspiration".

Johnston had started at 374lbs and lost 191lbs, or a total of 183lbs (48.93%). George - who pointed out his girlfriend in the audience earlier in the show - managed to shed 168lbs (48.55%) from his starting weight of 346lbs, meaning he now weighs 178lbs.

Koli Palu had been eliminated earlier in the night after the results of the public vote between himself and Daris were revealed.

However, Koli was later crowned this season's at-home winner, scooping the grand prize of $100,000 after losing a total of 215lbs, which represented a weight loss of 53.35%. The 29-year-old from California - who entered the show with cousin Sam - had started the competition at 403lbs.
