Paula Abdul to be at the Idol finale?

I have this feeling that we might see her at the American Idol finale. people.com is reporting that finale is kept under wraps but hinted we will see some American Idol alums at the finale. It would be awesome to see her back on American Idol. Paula Abdul didn't return after season 8. Christina Aguilera will be one of the performers at the finale which will air next week on FOX.

Casey James talks about his elimination

Did you feel surprised that you were going and did you have any conversations with Lee and Crystal before the result?
"I've been prepared at every single round from the beginning of the show. You never know. What will be will be and you have to be prepared either way. Every single time you make it through you are obviously elated and happy, and the other night when I didn't - I kind of knew that was coming - I was more than prepared that night. As far as having conversations, nobody really talked about things as far as that goes because I think that everybody understands that anything can happen and nobody really wants to talk about it. I'm obviously happy for them and I think that everything happens for a reason and I'm exactly where I should be and I'm super happy to be here."
Are you happy with third place?
"I'm the kind of guy that accepts what happens and is always happy about it, so had I got second or first I would be happy, but I can tell you that I'm definitely happy with where I landed. I continue to say it, but it always remains to be true, that everything happens for a reason and you have to roll with it and be happy. I certainly am. I am elated to have landed here and I'm going to make the most of it."
Were you offended when Kara said that your core demographic is women and young girls? Do you think you're more well-rounded as an artist?
"I would like to hope so! But I am definitely not offended. That's her opinion. I know nothing of demographics and my marketing skills are obviously poor or I wouldn't have been doing the same bar gigs for eleven years! I definitely don't take offense to it but I would also like to think I have a few more people out there that like what I'm doing."
What advice would you give to future contestants who are asked to take their shirt off by a judge?!
"Well who's to say I would be here had I not done that?! I think if you feel like you can back yourself up and not be the guy that took his shirt off - because hopefully that's not what I am now - then I would say do what you need to do to get the ball rolling. There's a possibility had I not done that that I wouldn't have made it past that first round. It definitely wasn't something that I thought of or even realized would happen but I'm so thankful that it did. I really had that drive to knock it out the first chance I could and I think I did surprise the judges at that point. It obviously worked out!"
What was it like working with the guest mentors?
"I think everyone will say the same thing. Harry Connick Jr was amazing, all the mentors were really great. When somebody takes the time to do the music - he brought his band, he wrote the music and composed everything, he even came into iTunes and made sure we were okay there. He put a lot of time in and that to me, said a lot about who he is as a person and a musician. The whole situation in general stands out to me. It says, 'This is special.' It was a lot of actual real time that was spent and not just camera time, actual time when I could sit down with him and say, 'What do you think about this? About that?' and get his actual honest opinion. The most wisdom you can gain from somebody is sitting down and talking with them."
Do you have ways of not letting all this go to your head?
"It's really easy. You just keep in mind that if it wasn't you, it would be someone else. It's very situational. I'm very honored and happy and proud of everything that I've accomplished, but keep in mind this will die down and very soon there will be the next person in my situation. I'm just looking forward to trying to keep the audience I have. If I do that, then maybe you will have to deflate my ego later down the line, but right now it's really easy to stay grounded because it is what it is."
How did you handle the demands of the show?
"Any situation in life is difficult and you just do what you can, and that's what I did. It definitely is demanding but the payoff is so [great]. Even if it had been 100th of the audience the payoff would still be a million percent worth it. It is definitely taxing but a lot of people work a lot harder than me for a lot less. You just have to keep that in mind and stay thankful for the opportunity to be where you are at and work as hard as you can. I think that's what everybody in the situation does."
Who will you keep in touch with?
"I think I'll keep in touch with most of them. Obviously the tour is coming up so we'll all be together during that. Everybody will be so busy - especially Lee and Crystal, they'll be super busy. I'm one of those guys who just tends to hang out and chill so we really won't have a lot of time to do that! But I think I'm going to keep in touch with almost everybody."
What do you think are the strengths of Lee and Crystal?
"They both have very unique and standout sounds. I think that pretty says it. You can't say anything else other than that. They are who they are and that's why people are voting for them, and I think that will continue and grow and I think it will be a crazy good show."
What is next for you?
"Next is a record and going and doing music. It's time to get started. The reason for the show is to allow us to do music and that's what I intend on doing because it's what I love and now I have the opportunity to do it. It's go time!"

New Idol Judge to be announced in the summer

We all know that this will be Simon Cowell's last season on American Idol so he can persue the U.S version of The Ex Factor. Well digitalspy has announced that the new judge will be announce during the summer. Ellen, Randy and Kara willr eturn for season 10. Auditions will eb pushed back around July to September in order for the producers to agree on a contract for the 4th judge. Honestly this show is NOT going to be the same without Simon Cowell.

Adam Lambert admits that he was concerned about his sexuality when he was on American Idol in 2009 and thought it would have caused a problem

Adam Lambert has admitted that he was initially concerned about appearing on American Idol.
The 28-year-old singer, who finished runner-up in last year's competition, insists that he thought his sexuality was a problem for the show.
"I was actually worried about [my sexuality] when I auditioned. I thought 'I'm not what they usually go for, I don't know if it’s going to work out' but it did, and thank God I auditioned," he revealed on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross in the UK.
"At first I remember Simon [Cowell] was saying to me during my audition, 'Well you’re very theatrical', and he always said that as a negative statement but I thought to myself that’s a good thing.
"Yeah, I'm theatrical and I'm proud of it, I think that there is a lot of room for that in pop music," Lambert added.

Aaron Kelly won the Disney Idol experience

I saw this this story on E news last night. Apparently , Aaron Kelly did not audition for American Idol like everyone else. He won the Idol experience at Disney last year and his prize was to audition for American Idol. Ironic isn't it?

Aaron Kelly has said that doing the 'American Idol Experience' at Walt Disney World Resort was a "good way to get a feel for the competition". The 17-year-old singer, who was voted off the Fox show this week, scooped the right to go to the top of the audition line in Orlando after winning a golden ticket at the theme park attraction last year.
Speaking after his exit, he said: "You go through a set of auditions, and then the audience actually votes you through.
"They had two different shows that day, and the first is where the audience puts you through. At the end of the day - they have a lot of shows - they pick one person from each show that day to go through to the finale, and at the finale the audience votes you through."
He added: "The gold ticket from that puts you to the front of the line for any audition."
The teenager went on say that he "ended up being one of the first to audition" in Orlando and described the attraction as a "fantastic thing" and a "good way to get a feel for the competition".
When asked if he saw himself working with Disney in the future, he replied: "I see myself as more interacting with Disney. I know that Rascal Flatts have done some recordings for Disney - like 'Life Is A Highway' is a Disney recording.
"So being able to work with Disney, but also being able to be a country artist. I see myself along the lines of a more Rascal Flatts- or Keith Urban-style person."

Last night the youngest finalist Aaron Kelly got the boot. Here is his interview with digitalspy.com
What do you think the judges wanted from you?
"I think they wanted to see a little charisma. I got my confidence up and I was having a good time. I just needed to believe a little bit more, but I felt the more I went into this competition the more I was gaining with my confidence and charisma. I was learning to add all the extra things to my performances."
Simon hugged you on stage. What did he say?
"He asked me what I felt my best week was and I said Country Week. He said that's mostly when I really shined, so I need to figure out the kind of artist I am and what road I want to go down. Country is what i feel most content with and that's where I'm hoping to go."
Ryan asked how old you felt and you replied, 'Still 17'. Do you think it was important to stay true to yourself and your age?
"Absolutely. You don't want to change who you are because the people send you through from who you are in the beginning, and if you change who you are then you're changing the person that America fell in love with."
How do you think last night's performance compared to Tuesday night?
"I didn't get to watch it back after I sang but I did feel a lot more [like] I let everything go. The difference for me between Tuesday night's performance and last night's performance is I was overthinking it Tuesday night, because I go out there and want it to be perfect and I think in a sense it kind of pulls you back a little bit because you're trying to clean everything up, whereas on Wednesday night I just let it all go and had a great time with that."
The judges seemed to be pushing you towards country. What are your thoughts on that?
"Actually country music is what I've grown up listening to and it's what I feel most comfortable with. The people that inspire me the most are Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban, they have such great honest music. I have a great time performing country music and I see myself hopefully going down that road."
Did you get a chance to meet Rascal Flatts when they were on the show?
"I did. I got a chance to meet them and take a picture with them. They are really down to earth guys and that was incredible, that was one of the highlights for me - getting to meet somebody who inspired me so much. They thanked me for doing their music on the show, but it's an honor to do their music and hear them sing because I admire them so much."
Next week is Movie Theme Week. Had you chosen a song?
"I was still filtering through the list a little bit so I didn't really have something decided or set in stone. I think it would have been a pretty good week but I'm really happy with as far as I made it."
Who was you favorite mentor?
"Harry Connick Jr. He worked with us on such a personal level. He did all the arrangement and worked really hard in making sure we shined in our performance night. To have a mentor that cared so much - and such an iconic figure - it was such an honor getting to share the stage with him and I felt really privileged to have him as a mentor."
What are you looking forward to most about the tour?
"I've never been to an American Idol tour but I'm really excited to get to be a part of it and interact with the fans and the supporters. It will be nice to connect to them and also be able to go out there and not have to worry about impressing the judges. It will just be good, clean fun and we're going to have a blast. Carefree and it will be great!"
What's next for you?
"I'm on the verge of finishing up with high school and I have all my senior credits, then I'd love to record an album and get to do some original music that I've written because we're not allowed to do that on the show. I don't know if people know I write songs, it's a huge passion of mine."

"I say this to everyone - they are all talented and I think they all have a shot at winning. When it comes down to it, it's America that votes so any one of them has a shot. They are all fantastic and they will all go out there and shine for the Top Four. They're going to do a great job."

Siobhan Magnus talks about her departure from American Idol
On this
interview the lasted American Idol rejcet talks about her departure from the show, she also talks about being compared to Adam Lambert and that she wants to get into acting/theater.
"It was hard because we're all so close and they're all such cool, honest people. They said they would miss my personality and sense of humor. I tried to bring comedy into every day to help us all get through it. I got on in particular with Lee though. We just clicked and I was so glad to have him there. We all know that we'll be friends forever. It's inevitable because of what we shared together."
When did you first find out that you could hit that signature high note?
"I'm pretty sure I figured out how to do that in the shower in high school one night. I'm an avid shower singer, much to the dismay of my family and neighbors! I was singing a Kelly Clarkson song and I went for this one note. I found I was able to resonate it in a different part of my head. Ever since I figured that out, I started to use it more and more."
Did working as a glass-blower help develop your voice?
"I started working in the glass shop about three years ago. You learn so much there every day - it's science but it's happening in your hands. I could sit for hours and watch my boss make the most amazing things. I think glass-blowing does require a certain amount of breath control, but you don't have to push your voice very hard because it's quite sensitive."
How did you find having Adam Lambert as a mentor, and getting compared to him?
"It was wicked flattering being compared to him! Right off the bat, I just respect him so much for his individuality and confidence. His stage presence is tremendous. He was extremely helpful as a mentor because he was the first mentor the show had ever had that was also a past contestant. He'd been in our shoes, so he was very sensitive to that and knew just what to say. He pointed out some great things, not even just technically, but about the entire performance. I'm so honored to have met him and be given advice from him. I hope to see him again soon."
You've said one of your favorite female artists is Courtney Love. Is that the kind of direction you'd like to go in with your music?
"My tastes are in no way limited to that style of music - I love any type of music that moves me. I hope to be able to create a sound that it is my own because it takes from everything that I love, from jazz and soul to rock and punk."
Are you disappointed that the judges used the save on Mike before it could have been used on you?
"No, not at all. I couldn't imagine it not being used on Mike. It was so shocking that there was the chance of him going home that week. We all knew they'd have to save him. It would have been cool if that didn't have to happen, but I believe everything happens for a reason. I couldn't be luckier to be where I'm at and to have got this far. I love Mike to death and I'm glad he's still in it."
What would you say to people who are disappointed you got voted off last night?
"I would say not to worry, because this is the end of one thing and the beginning of a new thing. I have so many big ideas of things to come in the future that I probably wouldn't have got the chance to do without this experience. I'm so grateful."
What sort of "big ideas" do you have in mind?
"One thing is I'd love to do some more theater. I love acting and I've had a lot of experience in a different kinds of theater - musicals and Shakespeare - and I do aspire some day to be in something like Phantom of the Opera or Jesus Christ Superstar. I also am a huge horror movie fan, and I definitely aspire to at least make an appearance in a gory kind of horror film. Another big dream of mine is to collaborate with all of my brothers and sisters, since they're all artistic too. Hopefully one day we could all come together and do a Magnus work of art!"
Finally, of the remaining five contestants, who do you think will win?
"It's so hard to say, because each person is unique and extremely talented. I know the last thing you want to hear is 'oh, it could be anybody' but it heavily depends on the coming theme. They all deserve to be there, I love them all dearly and I couldn't even tell you because this thing has been so unpredictable."

American Idol Tour Dates Announced
The dates for the upcoming American Idol summer tour have been revealed.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Top 10 contestants will visit 47 cities across the US and two in Canada.
The tour begins on July 1 in Auburn Hills, MI and ends on September 14 in Pittsburgh, PA, with the full list of dates available at the American Idol official website.
Tickets go on sale on May 15.

Adam Lambert wants Leo to play him?
In a recent myspace interview, the American idol runner-up Adam Lambert explains that he would love for Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio to play him in a biopic movie about his life. He says that Leo is good actor and would do a good job portraying me. He also talks about music, he says he wants to do a duet with Rihanna and Christina Aguilera and dreams to work with David Bowie.

American Idol's next week's mentor.. Shania Twian!
She was one of the guest judges, now she will be a mentor for next week. I am guessing next week will be country week. article below from usatoday.com
Not only does American Idol get Shania Twain as a mentor next week, but Rascal Flatts and Shakira will perform on Wednesday's results show. Flatts will perform their current single, Unstoppable, then sing with Shakira on her song Gypsy.
This will mark the third Idol appearance for the Flatts boys. They sang on the finale in 2005, when Carrie Underwood won, and they also appeared on the 2007 Idol Gives Back show.

American Idol front Runner Crystal Bowersox almost quit the competition
So one of my favorite Idol contestants which Crystal Bowersox almost quit the show explaining the attention she has been getting was too overwelming.

It went down in a parking lot after an "A.I." show. In front of several people, Crystal told Ryan she couldn't handle the competition.... she said she hated the attention and said to Seacrest, "What's the point?"
Crystal said she was going back to Ohio to be with her family, whom she missed terribly.
