Today was an historic day in Egypt. President Hosni Mubarak made an announcement that he planning to step down as president after 30 years of power.

A source with close connections to Persian Gulf government leaders told CNN that Mubarak had gone to the Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh.
